My Art

Lately I have been thinking about how to describe my art.

Over the last thirty years my art has changed to become more and more representative of my understanding of life and what living is all about.

I now find my creations dominated by representations of eyes and hands and this got me thinking.

Eye has long been explained as a window to ones soul. So it could be said to represent dharma. Hand on the other hand always represented work and doingness or karma.

My work then is a representation of ones identity beyond the labels of name, ethnic origin, gender, occupation, etc. etc?

Where there is life, there is motion. Where motion stops life ceases to exist as well. Life flows like a river all contributing to this motion. I find my work showing this motion and flow.

Life is energy just like light or electricity however fine that energy may be and where there is more life, there is abundance of energy. Just drop in on any of the metropolises of the world and you will know what I mean. I now find my art filled with a luminosity that mimic this energy and I hope to have this energy radiate from a viewer of my art just like induction coils can generate electricity by simply being there.

Some would have you believe that life is hard and torturous and debased. I see life as a harmonious existence and an emanation of high aesthetic band of energy. You feel this listening to a piece of music, looking at a piece of art. I find my art representing this high aesthetic band of energy.

I used to make art to hang on walls separate and distinct from the people who see them. Now my work is all about interaction and living with people and their lives. They are lamps that cast a shadow or illuminate a room or corner, they are light catchers that pull the rays of the sun and add a touch of color, they are screens that provide a corner of privacy and yet can provide subtle illumination, they are screens that reduce the glare of the eyes and sun through a window and create the feeling of looking out into another tranquil world.

It has been some time I had stopped creating art. I had stopped because I did not understand what I was doing.

Now I understand.

This is good. This is life.

I have an abundance of this energy to let out into this universe and contribute to the flow that is life.

Do welcome it with open arms. It is yours as well.

Masterpiece

Can you create a masterpiece?

Does it happen through hours of sluggish determination or does it happen in a flash in a moment of inspiration?

What is the significance of time in this endeavor?

Arn't we partial to anything that survives time?
So little of this universe survives it?

Is a masterpiece then a mere reflection of our immortal selves?
We merely acknowledge this truth by validating what we have seen before again and again.

With this thought I leave you to day.

Preview

This is the beginning.
Here will lay voiced my Thoughts.

Perhaps they help another?
Perhaps they bring an answer from within?

Think not of me as a stranger.
Think of me as a guide - should blindness strike, should limbs fail ones spirit
should you find there none who would believe.

No, I will not indulge you in your fantasies, nor validate your delusions.

Do I know more than you?
Hardly, for we are all of the same cloth, we know ALL and we have forgotten.

So here I am to help if needed.
Perhaps to help you remember it all.

You are welcome here.
